On June 23, 2026, SpaceX flew the first demo of Starfall, an uncrewed, disk-shaped capsule that can return about 1,000 kg of payload from orbit. The combination of Starship and Starfall will dramatically reduce the cost of returning goods from space, the precursor to the in-space manufacturing and point-to-point cargo industries.
Starfall targets two markets no one has cracked at scale: in-space manufacturing (purer pharmaceuticals, exotic alloys, flawless semiconductor wafers, etc.) and point-to-point cargo through low Earth orbit. SpaceX held approximately $100.8 billion in cash and cash equivalents as of June 19, 2026, up from $15.9 billion at the end of Q1 2026, per its IPO prospectus and subsequent filing. The jump came almost entirely from its June 12 Nasdaq IPO, which raised $85.7 billion, the largest in history. The balance gives SpaceX one of the deepest cash positions of any company entering a heavy capital-spending phase.
SpaceX needs that cushion to scale two programs at once. It has spent more than $15 billion on Starship to date, including $930 million in Q1 2026 alone, and Starship is the only vehicle capable of deploying its next-generation V3 Starlink satellites, which begin reaching orbit in the second half of 2026. Each Starship flight is expected to add more than 20 times the Starlink capacity of a current Falcon launch, with individual V3 satellites delivering about one terabit per second, per SpaceNews. SpaceX has signed a computing power agreement with Reflection AI, an Nvidia-backed open-source AI startup, granting it immediate access to Nvidia GB300 chips at the Colossus 2 data center in Memphis, Tennessee, per CNBC reporting published June 22, 2026. Under the terms, Reflection will pay SpaceX $150 million per month starting July 1, 2026, with total payments reaching approximately $6.3 billion if the contract runs through 2029. Either party may terminate the arrangement with 90 days' notice after the first three months.
SpaceX has now signed at least four external compute arrangements off its Colossus infrastructure: Anthropic at $1.25 billion per month for Colossus 1, Google at $920 million per month for Colossus 2 capacity starting October 2026, Cursor (originally a Colossus compute and collaboration arrangement under an April option, which SpaceX exercised on June 16 to acquire parent Anysphere for roughly $60 billion in stock), and now Reflection at $150 million per month. SpaceX priced its inaugural offering of senior unsecured notes on June 23, 2026, raising $25 billion, upsized from an initial target of at least $20 billion. The notes priced across five tranches: $7.0 billion of 5.350% notes due 2031, $6.0 billion of 5.650% notes due 2033, $6.0 billion of 5.875% notes due 2036, $2.5 billion of 6.600% notes due 2046, and $3.5 billion of 6.650% notes due 2056, per the company's pricing filing. Settlement is expected on June 26, 2026, subject to customary conditions. Ahead of pricing, Moody's assigned a Baa1 rating, Fitch a BBB+, and S&P Global a BBB on June 18, all investment-grade, which broadens the eligible buyer base to pension funds and insurance mandates that cannot hold sub-investment-grade paper. Bank of America, Citigroup, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley provided the original bridge and led the bond syndication, per Reuters and CNBC.
The bridge being refinanced matures in September 2027 and makes up the bulk of SpaceX's $29.1 billion in long-term debt as of March 31, per its IPO filing. The deal terms that short-dated bridge financing into fixed-rate notes maturing between 2031 and 2056, locking in long-term funding well ahead of the 2027 deadline and ranking among the largest investment-grade corporate bond sales of the year.

Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp confirmed on June 17, 2026 at the VivaTech conference in Paris that reconstruction of Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station had begun the previous day, following the May 28, 2026 explosion of a New Glenn rocket during a static-fire test. NASA announced a public-private partnership with Relativity Space to develop and fly the Aeolus Mars atmospheric science mission, targeted for a 2028 launch.
