Amazon asked the FCC on July 24 for 5,105 direct-to-device satellites, beaming voice and data to unmodified phones from 2028 on spectrum from its $11.6 billion Globalstar acquisition, pointed squarely at Starlink's direct-to-cell business. Starship Flight 13 flew July 24 from Starbase, a day past the slot we flagged last issue, and deployed 20 Starlink V3 satellites in the vehicle's first operational payload delivery, though Booster 20 relit only about half its Raptors and did not survive the splashdown. Intel unveiled Starfire, its first space-grade system-on-chip, an 18A part rated to 75 TOPS that it positions against the two-decade-old RAD750, with radiation qualification still unfinished.

Effective supply is 21.5 million H100 equivalents against 22.1 million of funded demand, a market clearing at 1.03x, and rental prices turned with it, up from a $1.70 an hour bottom in October 2025 to $2.35 by March, widening the spread over blended owner cost to about $1.26 from the $0.30 that held through most of 2025. Six buyers have signed build programs reaching 34.5 GW-IT by end-2027, 1.4x the entire installed base operating today. The constraint hands off from chips to electricity from here: 24 GW of the announced pipeline exists only as grid interconnection filings.
